Who runs this website

Nautical Numbers (nauticalnumbers.com) is run by [YOUR FULL NAME], [YOUR POSTAL ADDRESS], who is the data controller for this website. Contact: [YOUR EMAIL].

In short

You can use the calculator without an account. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't collect your name, email or any other details unless you write to us.

What the calculator does with your inputs

Route calculations run entirely in your browser. The ports, speeds and dates you enter are not sent to us. To save you retyping, your last inputs are stored in your own browser's local storage on your device. We cannot see them, and you can delete them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Hosting

The website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. (USA). When you visit, your browser's request, including your IP address, browser type and the page requested, is processed by Netlify to deliver the site and protect it against abuse, and may be kept briefly in server logs. Data may therefore be processed outside the European Union. See Netlify's privacy policy.

Fonts

The page loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, provided by Google Ireland Ltd. To deliver the font files, your browser sends your IP address to Google's servers. See Google's privacy policy.

Links to sponsors

Some panels are marked "Sponsored" and link to our sponsors' websites. These links carry a tag showing that you came from Nautical Numbers and which route you were viewing, but no personal data. Once you click, the sponsor's own privacy policy applies.

Emails

If you email us, for example about advertising, we use your email address and message only to reply to you, and keep them as long as needed for that conversation or for our accounting obligations.

Legal basis

We process the data described above on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), and, for emails, to respond to your request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format. To do so, write to [YOUR EMAIL]. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Italy this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

Changes to this policy

If we add analytics or advertising, we will update this page and, where required, ask for your consent before setting any cookies.
